BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of the PIM Product Manager will work on the Category Data team to install a new Product Information Management system and define how we will use Product Information in the future. This position needs to understand how to successfully evaluate problems and develop appropriate models to address the issue at hand.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify Business Needs
Identifies user requirements and business needs by researching and analyzing user needs, preferences, objectives, and working methods.
Studies how downstream users consume content, including data categorization and labeling.
Plans and implements information architecture by studying the concept, strategy, and target audience; develop architectural scheme, information structure and features, with consideration to functionality and user-interface design.
Create and Maintain Data Models
Organizes information by translating user behavior into information structure and elements; crafting interactive experiences.
Produces workflow diagrams, user scenarios, flowcharts, and storyboards.
Prepares interaction specifications, navigation rules, organization of information, and site maps coordinating with business, technology, and marketing channels.
Determines standard attribution models and schemas for multiple categories and ranges.
Works independently and collaboratively to coordinate and solve highly complex technical data communication and transformation issues.
Remodels existing information structures for optimal web classification & search ranking.
Writes transition plans to move development modeling work into various stages of execution and environments.
Maps and integrates product data between Product Information Management systems, external spreadsheets, or other data sources.
Designs information structures, prepare work-and dataflow models, based on customer scenarios and information representation requirements.
Managing Data Sets
Performs data profiling activities to identify noncompliant, de-duplicate and cleanse inconsistent and redundant data, validate data against standards and correct data to conform to policies.
Manipulates and transforms large sets of product data for use in systems or per user needs.
Validates information delivery by developing and completing usability test plans.
Specifies and builds data feeds and data exchanges with partner companies and suppliers.Set Standards and Make Recommendation
Develops standards and business rules for information structures and integrations to manage proper data usage.
Champions the usage of data in the organization, and communicate the benefits and return on investment for application and product owners.
Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, Data Science, or Data Analytics required. Skilled knowledge and experience developing and maintaining information models and product information systems required.
Intermediate to advanced experience with the use and application of the most current technologies and products used in the industry required.
Minimum of three years of experience with positional and other file formats.
Minimum of three years of experience mapping data structures.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft technologies and environments.
Time and project management
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work as part of a team required.
Ability to troubleshoot data flow processes and translation maps required.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt modeling methods from case studies or other proven approaches.
Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (Alteryx, Power BI, etc.) to represent insights and structure data models.
Experience in translating/mapping relational data models into XML and Schemas.
Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (Power BI) to analyze data and develop insights.
Experience with remodeling established hierarchies and mapping existing state to future state.
Experience presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.
A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 25 % of the time may be required.
