Inside Sales Business Development RepresentativeWe seek smart, outgoing personalities to advance MSC’s market position and financial growth by calling on small-size manufacturing and non-manufacturing customers.In this high-activity telesales role, you will use your strong communication and prospecting skills to mine databases, identify underperforming customers, and increase sales opportunities by effectively getting the appropriate decision makers on the phone. You will use prescribed sales methodology scripts to make calls and craft presentations on solutions and services that address our customers’ current and future needs. Strategic planning is critical to ensure you continuously develop a pipeline of new business and increase revenue.HOW YOU’LL CONTRIBUTEYour duties will be tactical and strategic for a role that is as much about knowledge as it is about showing how MSC can provide value to the customer.
Build key customer relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiate and close deals, and maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions.
Own the comprehensive business-development process: conduct email campaigns, set up customer meetings and conference calls, deliver follow-up materials, and maintain ongoing contact with warm prospects.
Perform high-volume daily sales prospecting activities, hunting from a pool of existing customers to grow revenue profitably.
Master and follow the precise steps in the prescribed sales methodology to continuously develop and advance opportunities through the sales funnel.
Profile each customer to identify company size, primary and secondary end-market, decision-making process and existing business challenges (known or unknown).
Transition customers from status quo by proactively shaping awareness of unidentified business needs, advising on best practices, and presenting insight-based, right-fit solutions with MSC.
Speak articulately with prospects and decision makers at the appropriate level, and make quick decisions accordingly.
Manage and upkeep the customer and prospect database (Salesforce.com).
Leverage and manage the CRM system for all prospecting and funnel activities.
Collaborate with MSC teams as needed and utilize internal resources, sales-enablement tools and preferred suppliers to maximize the customers’ return on investment and business impact as you drive sales and revenue.
WHAT IT TAKESThe can-do communicator and decision maker we seek for this high-activity role should have these qualifications.
At least 2 years sales experience
Sales acumen, knowledge of prospecting techniques, and self-motivation to meet sales goals
Analytical aptitude, with the ability to make quick, calculated decisions and recommendations
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
Competitive spirit, ability to overcome obstacles, sense of accountability, and flexibility in thought and action
Computer literacy and knowledge of online transactional sales and business
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally at multiple levels within the business unit
Attention to detail and follow-through, keen intelligence and boundless curiosity
Ability to think on your feet and make decisions while following a script
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience with value-based sales methodologies preferred
Demonstrated track record of excellent sales, negotiation, relationship building, closing skills and techniques, and meeting and exceeding agreed-upon sales plans preferred
